VPN and VoIP

Nowadays, devices that offer VPN and VoIP technologies are very much in demand. These technologies significantly extend the possibilities of electronic communication, they provide a high security standard, and — contrary to commonly used means — also bring substantial financial savings.

VPN Networks — Secure Communication

When a company is growing and the number of branches proliferates, one of the key problems for resolution is the interconnection of information infrastructure of remote workplaces.  VPN (Virtual Private Network) might be the solution then: VPN is a private network which uses a public connection (most commonly the internet) in order to connect remote points and users. The VPN enables its remote users to access the servers and intranet of the company; it connects individual branches & creates extranets between confidential partners. It connects a company’s entities. There are two types of VPN: Remote-Access and Site-to-Site.

Remote Access

Users working from home or on business trips can use the VPN connection in order to remotely access the server at the organization and they can use the infrastructure of a public network (e.g., the internet) for this. This type of network is especially useful for companies which have remote, and often travelling, employees.

Site-to-Site

Within  Site-to-Site VPN architecture we differentiate two types of VPN usage:

Voice over IP — the Communication of the Future

IP telephony is a modern form of voice communication which uses the same network as is used in data transfer. Compared to traditional telephony there is no need for PBX or a separate telephone network. IP telephony enables organizations to easily switch from the traditional telephony network to an IP network without restricting its user in any way. This combination of the services of voice and data transfer within one network brings along many advantages, e.g., lower capital costs, simplified operation and configuration, better integration of remote localities and branches with their company network etc.

Thanks to IP telephony employees who often change their office or workspace within a building can “carry” their telephone number with them without the need of PBX re-configuration and reconnection of cables between offices.
